Prospect and Dialect
Prospect is the program. The Dialect Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the charity that holds and moves the money.
Prospect helps Dialect extend its nonprofit status to your project. Your patrons’ donations become tax-deductible, the money gets a real charitable home, and you never have to start a nonprofit, file with the IRS, or set up an LLC.
Why it matters: your patrons give more.
Because Dialect is a 501(c)(3), every contribution to your project is a tax-deductible charitable donation. For most patrons that lowers the real cost of giving, which usually means they give more.
They can give in two ways: straight from their bank, or through a donor-advised fund (Fidelity Charitable, Schwab, Vanguard) if they already keep charitable money parked there.
How the money moves.
A patron makes a donation
First, the donation goes to Dialect, the charity itself, by bank transfer or donor-advised fund (DAF). It’s a tax-deductible gift to a 501(c)(3), not a payment to you.
Once it clears, patrons can fund your project
After their donation settles, the patron points it towards the project they want to back. Now that money is earmarked for your budget and never mixed in with anyone else’s.
Prospect matches every dollar
The moment your project is funded, our matching fund kicks in and matches dollar for dollar, up to $4,000.
You request a draw as you work
When you’re ready to spend, request a draw against your budget and submit your receipts. You withdraw funds as you go instead of waiting for one lump sum at the end.
Dialect approves and pays out
The Dialect Foundation reviews each request, approves it, and sends the money straight to your bank. Your funds are just like any other taxable income.
What it costs.
A 15% operating fee comes out of patron donations only, split evenly: 7.5% to Dialect Foundation, 7.5% to Prospect. It covers compliance, payment processing, and all the paperwork you’re not doing.
Prospect takes no percentage of your matching funds: every dollar we match goes straight to your budget, in full.
$4,000 donated to Dialect becomes $3,400 to fund your project + $3,400 matched by Prospect = $6,800 for your creative work.
What stays yours.
Prospect, Dialect, and your patrons own no rights, take no royalties, and have no claim on what you make. The work, and everything it earns later, is yours.
No reward tiers to fulfill, no all-or-nothing deadline, no audience to perform for. The money buys the one thing the work actually needs: time.
That’s modern day Patronage.
Half from the people who already believe in you, matched by Prospect, held by a real charity so every dollar is accounted for.
